Classroom Activity:

Watch Wandana Sean Ryan playing Didgeridoo and collect sticks to tap along to song, just like using your own clap sticks. Look at the clap sticks and various boomerangs on your Wandana artefacts chart.

Teachers Notes:

Returning boomerangs are made from wood and used for hunting, sport and entertainment. A returning boomerang is thrown above long grass to scare birds to fly into waiting nets. Depictions of returning boomerang’s being thrown at animals in some of the oldest rock art in the world in the Kimberley region of the Northern Territory date up to 50,000 years old. The oldest surviving boomerang was found in a peat bog in South Australia and dates back 10,000 years.
