Only Traditional Owners/Custodians from the country you are on can deliver a Welcome to Country.
A Welcome to country is done to welcome visitors on to their country and offering them safe passage and protection of their spiritual being during their journey.
During their travel, visitors are expected to respect the protocols and rules of that country. A Welcome to country will occur at the beginning of a formal event.
This can include a smoking Ceremony, dance, a speech in language or English.
Anyone can deliver an Acknowledgement of country. An Acknowledgement of Country is an opportunity to acknowledge and pay respects to the Traditional Owners/Custodians
of the country you are meeting on and their continuing connection to Country. An Acknowledgement of Country is performed before formal events.
